My musical journey has been an enriching and diverse experience, encompassing performances in both India and the UK, as well as other parts of the world. I have had the privilege of showcasing my talents across a variety of platforms, including stage, television, and radio. Now based in the UK, I perform regularly while also sharing my passion for music through teaching. My work has taken me to many corners of the globe, allowing me to connect with audiences from different cultures and backgrounds.
One of the highlights of my career was performing at the prestigious House of Commons in London, a moment made even more special as it was organised by the Hindu Society of Great Britain. This performance was a deeply meaningful experience, as it was a celebration of Indian culture and music in one of the most iconic institutions in the world.
In 2010 and 2011, I had the honour of collaborating with the London Philharmonia, where I performed orchestrated versions of my own compositions at community concerts. This partnership was an incredible opportunity to blend classical Western orchestration with the rich textures of Indian music, a fusion that was both challenging and rewarding. These concerts allowed me to present my music on a grand scale, with the Philharmonia’s symphonic backing bringing a new depth to my work.
My musical roots are deeply connected to India. In Mumbai, I’ve had the great fortune to perform alongside Bollywood legends such as Kavita Krishnamurthy and Abhijeet, both of whom have inspired me greatly in my career. These collaborations were moments of learning and growth, as I was able to share the stage with some of the finest voices in the industry. Despite my involvement in contemporary Bollywood music, my heart has always been drawn to the timeless classics and Ghazals, genres that evoke profound emotion and complexity in their melodic and lyrical structures.
Academically, I hold a Master’s degree in Music, which has provided me with a solid foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of my art. This formal education has allowed me to explore a wide range of musical styles and traditions, enriching my own creative expression.
Over the years, my work has been recognized and appreciated by many, and one of my greatest honours was receiving an award from the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for my contributions to spreading Indian music both within India and internationally. This recognition reaffirmed my commitment to preserving and promoting Indian music across borders, and it remains a significant milestone in my career.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of performing in various countries, including Spain, Morocco, Lanzarote, India and several cities across the UK such as London, Leicester, and Manchester. Each of these performances has enriched my musical perspective and allowed me to engage with diverse audiences, each bringing their unique appreciation of music to the experience.
A particularly meaningful aspect of my musical journey has been my love for the works of Asha Bhosle. Her songs have always been a source of inspiration, not only because of their musical complexity but also because they challenge me as a vocalist. Her ability to blend emotion, technicality, and versatility in her performances is something I deeply admire. I find her music to be both demanding and rewarding, and I always strive to do justice to her songs when I perform them.
One of the most exciting moments in recent years was when, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a virtual musical show was organised by the legendary Asha Bhosle. The event was a beacon of hope during a challenging time, and I was thrilled to have one of my songs shortlisted for the show. It was a humbling experience to be recognized by such a musical icon, and it served as a reminder of the resilience and unifying power of music, even during times of crisis.
